First, decide what you actually want the AI to do
There are two honest jobs hiding inside "get an AI to write a script", and they need different setups.
Job one: you already know what should be said. You wrote it in your notes app on the bus. You do not want a machine improving your sentences. In the MaqtAi wizard, a script you type or paste into the Script step without pressing Generate is used word for word. At launch it gets split into scenes verbatim and never rewritten. That matters if you have a voice you have spent months building.
Job two: blank page. You have a topic and nothing else. Press Generate and you get a hook-first draft written for your niche, then you change whatever bothers you.
Most people live in the middle. Generate, keep the structure, rewrite the first line and the last line yourself. That is not lazy. The opening seconds and the payoff are where the video is won, and they are the two parts you can judge better than any model, because you know who is watching.
One mechanical thing that trips people up: once the scenes exist, editing the big script box does not change them. Edit the lines on the Scenes step instead.
Pick the length before you ask for words
The wizard puts Length and aspect ratio before Script on purpose. A thirty-second script is not a two-minute script with sentences removed. It has one idea, no preamble, and a turn near the end. A two-minute script can afford sections. If you ask for words first and decide length after, you get a draft that fights the format.
So choose deliberately:
- Vertical, short. Fastest to make, fastest to test a niche. Vertical or square up to three minutes gets classified as a Short on YouTube.
- 16:9, longer. Slower to consume but it is the format that feeds the long-form monetization path (1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 valid public watch hours in twelve months), which is far more reachable for most new channels than the Shorts view path (YouTube's own requirements). Choosing 16:9 at two or five minutes also gets you an automatic long-form script structure: hook, themed sections, recap.
If you are still testing whether anyone cares about your topic, write short. If the topic already gets comments, write long.

Make it sound like your channel, not like every channel
This is the real objection and it deserves a real answer. Generic input produces generic scripts. "Write about productivity" gives you the same paragraph everyone else got.
Two things fix most of it.
First, save a brand signal on the My brand page: who your audience is, what actually bugs them, and your content pillars. There is a "Suggest for me" helper that fills both from a one-line description of your channel if you are staring at empty boxes. Once it is saved, a "Tailor to my brand" checkbox appears on the Script step, and the script gets written for that specific audience instead of for nobody in particular. If the checkbox is missing, the signal has not been saved yet.
Second, develop the topic before you generate. On the same page you can type a topic and press "Develop angles" (5 credits) to get three genuinely different takes on it, then rank five opening hooks (3 credits) and press Use to open the wizard already filled in. That step costs almost nothing and it is the difference between the obvious angle and the one nobody in your niche has posted this week.
The hook is still your job
Scripts come out hook-first, which means the draft will always have something in the first line. Whether it is a good something is your call.
Read it out loud. Not in your head. Out loud. If the first sentence explains, cut it. If it warms up ("In this video we will look at..."), delete the whole line and start at line two. If it makes a promise your script does not pay off, either change the hook or change the ending.
Do this every time and you will get quick at it. Two minutes per video, and it is the two minutes that actually move retention.
What AI scriptwriting will not do
Here is the honest part. It will not tell you what to make a video about. There is no trending-topic suggester; the topic queue is yours to fill. It does not know whether your idea is interesting, only how to write it well. It cannot verify facts, which matters enormously if you are in history, true crime, or anything medical, where one wrong claim in the comments follows you around. Check names, dates and claims yourself.
It also does not cause growth. A better script removes friction between having an idea and having a video. Views still come from the niche, the hook, and posting often enough for the algorithm to learn what you are. And churning out near-identical scripts is a real risk, not a hypothetical one: YouTube's inauthentic-content policy demonetizes mass-produced repetitious content. Vary your angles.
Who should skip this entirely? Anyone who writes fast and enjoys it, and anyone whose personal voice is the actual product. Use the paste-verbatim path instead and let the AI handle the parts you hate.
The loop, once you have done it twice
Topic, visual style, length, script, scenes, voice, music, captions, review. Nothing is generated and nothing is charged until you press Launch on the Review step, so you can click around freely. From there MaqtAi narrates it, generates the visuals with motion, adds word-by-word captions, and hands you a vertical video, usually in under three minutes. If you want it to keep running on a cadence without you opening the wizard, that is what Autopilot and scheduling are for.
Cost lives in credits, and the script is the cheap part; motion is what moves the number. A roughly thirty-second, five-scene video with real AI motion runs about 29 credits, and the same video with lighter pan-and-zoom motion about 14. You can see the full breakdown here.
What another month of deciding costs
Nothing dramatic happens if you wait. That is exactly the problem. The channel does not get its first ten videos, the algorithm collects no data about who should see you, and the person in your niche who started in March is thirty videos ahead by the time you write your first hook. None of that is urgent, which is why it never gets done.
So make it small. One topic, one script, one video tonight. Verify your email and you get 450 free credits, roughly three videos, no card. Generate the script, read the first line out loud, fix it, and press Launch. You will learn more from that than from another week of reading about it.
Doing this by hand is the part most people quit at. MaqtAi writes the script, narrates it, generates the visuals and captions, and gives you a publish-ready faceless short. Verify your email and you get 450 free credits, roughly 3 videos, no card needed.
Try it on your niche freeFrequently asked questions
Will an AI-written script sound like everyone else's? It will if you give it a generic topic. Saving a brand signal and using "Tailor to my brand", plus developing a specific angle before generating, is what separates your script from the default one.
Can I use my own script instead of a generated one? Yes. Type or paste it into the Script step and do not press Generate. It gets split into scenes word for word at launch and is never rewritten.
What if I only want to change a few lines after generating? Edit the lines on the Scenes step, not in the script box, because once scenes exist they are what renders. On finished videos, text, voice, music and caption edits are free.
Do I need to disclose that the script was AI-written? Platforms ask for disclosure on realistic synthetic media, and the label itself does not reduce distribution, while skipping it where it is required risks removal. Follow each platform's rule for the content you are posting.
Results vary. Nothing here is a guarantee of income.
